Fishing Reports June 3, 2008 Well it was frosty again last night. When will summer get here? We have had some nice days recently with temps up towards 70, but mornings are still very chilly. Late ice out and unusually cold water temps have kept the walleye bite a bit slow so far this season. A few quality fish have been caught, but numbers, so far are not what we've come to expect. The largest walleye so far this week is 28". Northern and Bass have been active and have 'made the day' for those that target them. Last week we had 2 Pike over 40", 2 at 39" and many over the slot size. One of our pike guys last week said it was better than a trip he took to northern Manitoba. Kathy and I went out Sunday for a half day of casting and found a concentration of nice ones , all over 30" at the mouth of a river where the water was 10 warmer than the main lake.(Lac Seul). It was a fish every cast for about an hour until we wore out our welcome. What a blast. Whitefish are also being caught in Williams Lake. Some 4 to 5 pounders have been brought in. These are like candy to the big pike in Williams Lake. I received this email from Dean who was here last week.
